The first ever Boghall Community Wing 'Open Day' went with really well. We had more than 1557 people visit us on Saturday 25th of March and the weather remained lovely throughout the day.
All the activities were free to take part in from a selection of Bouncy Castles, Nerf Wars, Baby Soft Play and face painting. There was something for all children including Arts & Crafts tables where children could design a 'Thank You' card or a mothers day card. Boghall Parish Church provided a mini Messy Church table where families created some unique mothers day presents.
The Gym Hall was filled with partner agencies who provide services in the Community Wing. Whether you needed help to find employment, further education, get fit or find out about a local group.... there was an information stall to help you.
Also available was a Volunteer stand where staff were on hand to talk about volunteering opportunities and the benefits of registering with the Centre. If you missed this opportunity and are interested in volunteering then please email boghalldropin@gmail.com for more information. There was a delicious BBQ for free where adults could collect a free burger and a hot drink and children a free hot dog and juice. Tesco donated food and The West Lothian Youth Action Project(YAP) prepared, cooked and served everyone at the event!! Huge Thank you to YAP! One of the main focuses of the day was to encourage people to complete the community survey. This survey will allow the Boghall Drop in Centre to discover what gaps the community feel there are in services and provisions. Once identified the Centre can then work to fill these gaps by trying pilot programmes to see how successful each new activity is within the Community of Boghall. These activities will be piloted in the new 'Super Sundays' being introduced in April. Check out Facebook for our Super Sunday flyer.
Activities like the Open Day and the new Super Sundays were not possible before due to staff limitations and a lack of funding. However we are now able to open additional hours, days and increase provisions thanks to the BIG Lottery Fund. This money has allowed us to hire additional staff which allows us to be more flexible in opening hours. This funding has allowed us to expand as an organisation and really work towards making a bigger impact to people.
Please take a moment to complete the community survey. It is the only way to have your voice and views expressed. https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/C32F5V2
