West Lothian Council's Health Improvement Team are back in the Community Wing delivering a cooking class aimed at young people. The tutor Emma works closely with the children to teach them basic cooking skills, how to follow a recipe and make meals.
Each child is given a workbook where they can store the recipes and record how they felt the session went. Would they make any changes to the recipes? was there an ingredient they really did not enjoy?
This session the young people learn how to make a variety of soups: Potato and Leek, Tomato, Lentil and homemade Croutons. All the recipes are designed around healthy choices and aim to limit salt, fats and sugars. The children rated the soups
Emma invites the young people to make suggestions that the group can make in the up coming weeks. Suggestions of Brownies, Pizza and Birthday cakes was made.... we will need to wait and see what recipes the group covers. Its a lovely group of children between the ages of 8 - 14 years old.
The Cooking Class lasts for 6 weeks. If you are interested in your child attending a future course then please contact the Boghall Drop in Centre on 01506 283201, email boghalldropin@gmail.com or send us a private message via our Facebook page. We need to know the child's name, age, school and a contact telephone number.
