The Boghall Drop in Centre (BDIC) has started a monthly drop in session for all registered volunteers. The last Tuesday of each month will celebrate skills or team building techniques that volunteers have indicated they would like to learn or strengthen.
The First session focused on using clay techniques to create a variety of arts and craft projects. From jewellery, magnets, objects and to creating leaves for a larger garden project! This session was delivered by a local artist Katrina Stewart.
This gave the volunteers a nice chilled evening to practice techniques they can then use when working with community groups or the BDIC's 'Sunshine Club'. This also gave the volunteers an opportunity to experience first hand what some of the children feel when presented with a craft project they have never used before or stuck for what to design inspiration.
These sessions are designed to help the BDIC support the volunteers on areas they wish to explore, learn or sample. To enable us to explore as many thing as possible the Volunteer Drop in Sessions will focus on a different topic each month. This month was art based and the next drop in on Tuesday 28th of February will focus on face painting skills.
The BDIC has achieved the Volunteer Friendly award for the guidance, support and training we provide those who register to volunteer with us. This award means that those who volunteer with the BDIC gain as much from the time as the support and time the BDIC receives from each volunteer. It represents the partnership the BDIC has with its Volunteers.
The BDIC is fortunate that the funding we receive for our Volunteer Administrator allows us to focus on supporting and strengthening the partnership we have between us.
If you would like to volunteer with the BDIC please pop into the Community Wing and pick up a form.
